Bio on Mathieu
Mategot (1910-2001) :
Born in Hungary, 1910, French nationality was an officer of the order of
the arts & letters.
In 1949 he designed numerous pieces in perforated metal with unequaled
elegance achieving much success. The quality of production and originally makes
Mategot one of the precursors of contemporary French design.
In the 1960’s, he accepted a post of professor of art at the prestigious L’Ecole
des Beaux Arts at Nancy.
