This is a modern interpretation of Constantin Brancusi's 'Sleeping Muse', sculpted in 1909-1910.

Beautiful French Art Deco dancer with up stretched arms.
She is topless, wearing a headband and short skirt that has a textured fishscale design
and side drapes, reminiscent of the outfits worn by the infamous Josephine Baker.

Well executed, this charming statue shows great attention to detail and displays LeFaguay's talent for sculpting the female form. Bronzed white metal statue,
with a slightly silvered tone, depending on the lighting.

She is mounted on the original porto marble base that has a carved border detail.
Perfect to adorn a small table, console, desk or vanity. 
The size makes this easy to place, in a collection of figural nudes, or on her own.

Fortuna, The Goddess of Luck, Fate and Fortune 
Spiraling Bronze Statue
Sculptor / Artist: Jean Boulogne, known as Giambologna
Circa 1800's, after a 16th Century sculpture, Europe

Beautiful solid bronze, signed figural statue of Fortuna,
looking to the stars.
She has her original dark patina intact, resting on a round black marble base that has a raised bronze relief wrapping around the tall base. Wonderful antique bronze goddess statue, after the work of Jean Boulogne.

Known in history as Giambologna, he created numerous famous monumental statues, including his most famous, Mercury of 1565, the partner to this goddess, Fortuna. The closed composition of spiral axis given to the figure is quite typical of Giambologna, who is considered to be the most important sculptor in Europe between Michelangelo and Bernini.

Male and Female
Circa 1920's

 

Rare Pair of Art Deco period Glazed Pottery Foo Dogs (Lions) in Art Deco period pastel colors. 
Male and female statues, Ideal to grace the entry of your home or garden.
She has the traditional baby cub under her paw,
he has the decorated globe or sphere under his paw.
The bases are bordered with a floral trim, and both have decorations across the chest a
nd at shoulders. Beautiful Aqua Blue base color with cornflower blue, pale mauve, white and accented with a touch of black.
There are unpainted areas where the natural beige color of the pottery base shows through as an accent. They have a wonderful patina and crackle to the glaze, appropriate for their age.

Foo Dogs have traditionally been used to guard entryways and help ward off evil, 
the Foo Dog is also known as the Celestial Dog, and the Happiness Dog.
