Possibly from the Bobo Tribe in the Koudougou region of Burkina Faso
Circa first half of the 20th Century, West Africa

Very large Pair of African
Sentry Guard Figures with helmet shaped narrow heads.
Original finish and geometric tribal (red and white) pigment markings.
The Bobo people live to the
west of Bwa and carve large zoomorphic helmet masks with painted decoration.
Their work shows elements of Bamana realism as well as the abstract work of the
Mossi.
This pair of Sentry figures
are from a private collection of African Artifacts in Naples, FL.
Dimensions: Male: 58 ½” high,
42 ½” deep, 9” wide.
Female: 56 ½” high, 43” deep, 8 ½” wide.
Condition: In very good as
found condition, original finish-no clearcoat or wax.
One section missing on base of the male at back, this was done long ago.
Import markings still intact, can be removed upon request.
