Large Porcelain Polar Bear Statue

Large scale, signed, fine porcelain polar bear.
He has a kind expression, with one paw slightly raised.

Signed with a pale pink applied  raised porcelain triangle under the bear's right leg: Royal Dux Bohemia
with the oval inner logo. Artist signature on one of the paws, looks like Gradacek ?

Also signed on underside with a black ink stamp : in a circle, Hand Painted - Made in Czechoslovakia; around a triangle that reads: Royal Dux Bohemia & oval inner logo. Incised # 398 / 2 and the number 18.
These markings indicate that this piece was made post 1947.

Dimensions: 12 3/8" high, 16 1/4" x 9".

Bio: Royal Dux is the more common name for the Duxer Porzellanmanufaktur, which was founded by E. Eichler in Dux, Bohemia (now Duchov, Czech Republic), in 1860. By the turn of the century, the firm specialized in high quality porcelain statuary and busts of Art Nouveau–style maidens, large porcelain figures, and ornate vases with three-dimensional figures climbing on the sides. The factory remains in business today.

Condition: In excellent original condition. No known repairs.
