Silvered Bronze Decorative Statue

Circa 1920's, France 
Rare and very fine figural bronze by
Aurore Onu, depicting a woman catching an antelope by its horn.
She has long wavy hair and is wearing a one shouldered toga style,
short dress, with both breasts exposed.
She is barefoot and has one leg outstretched. The young antelope is
leaping.
Resting on a solid bronze angular base depicting stone cliffs.
Signed in the maquette Aurore Onu
and on backside with the round bronze disc foundry seal LN JL Paris,
for Les Neveux de J. Lehmann, and 'Made in France, bronze" (LNJL was
also was the foundry for Chiparus)

Aurore Onu was a Romanian sculptor
and a contemporary of Marcel Bouraine.
Onu exhibited at the 1924 Salon des
Artistes Francais.
His flapper figures were popular and can be easily found, this
figure is very rare.
Dimensions: 13 1/4" wide, 6 3/8"
high, 2 3/8" deep. A marble base will add height and depth to this
piece.
Condition: The bronze statue is in
excellent original condition.
Original silvered finish with age appropriate patina and wear.
Found without a marble base, we can have one made upon request.
