Bur Amboina (now an extinct species of wood)
With Ivory inlay in a diamond pattern on the drop front door and at

‘Bureau Cylindre’ Circa 1770,
France
Wonderful roll-top style hand carved walnut desk,
with pull out desktop. Intricate high carved design on three sides with a restored French polish
finish. Carved Ribbon/Bow design with a classical swag and cascade design on the front
cylindre. This design is remembered on each side.
Inside features a new Green leather top with gilded
border.
Fitted interior with numerous small drawers. Six Lower drawers have a ‘secret locking’ mechanism,
popular during the Louis XVI period. Pencil Drawer and covered knee space. The top has a flip down panel, that offers additional workspace for papers.
Brass hardware and drawer pulls, all original.

Biedermeier Period
Double Sided Library Cabinet / Room Divider, with integrated Secretary Circa 1820-1830, Germany.
A very special and rare cabinet, from a country estate in Southern Bavaria. Approximately 10 feet wide, 8 feet tall.
Double sided for use as a room divider. Finished on both sides and on each end, so this may 'float' in a room if desired.
Cherry veneer over pine, one side features ebonized pilasters
(pictured above) the other side,
ebonized half round columns. (pictured below)

Each side of the cabinet is nearly identical, with the difference being the pilasters or columns (one style on each side) Gold leaf detailing at the top of each column and pilaster. Key locking with all original keys and original cast bronze keyhole decorations. The bookshelf cabinets open from both sides.
