Art Nouveau, Arts & Crafts
Tapestry Four Panel Screen
A transitional design,
also with an Art Deco feel.
In the style of William Morris or Liberty & Co.
A great compliment to a craftsman or Frank Lloyd Wright interior.
This screen is pictured in the Judith
Miller Book on Art Deco, page 64
and in the Judith Miller " Antiques Price Guide 2007 " on page
633
Gorgeous, turn of the century
tapestry screen.
Organic, nature design with a field, tree trunks and cherry blossoms.
Shades of forest, moss and sage green with burgundy and mauve flowers.
The freeform tree trunk consists of tans and browns.
Very appropriate and popular colors for today's home.
It is likely that this is a one of a kind, hand made piece.
All hand stitched and the
tapestry is in excellent antique condition.
Great attention to detail and an almost asymmetrical design.
Original frame with carved rosewood base panels.
Dimensions: 71" high,
each of the four panels is 23
⅝" WIDE,
making this screen just shy of 8 feet wide.
Hundreds of original nail
heads used to attach the tapestry, only one appears to be missing.
Overall expected age fading, as you can see from the back coloration.
However, there are no sun-faded spots or stains of any sort.
Two handles on the back for moving.
The original silk fabric backing was hand-stitched on and it shows it's age.
Item # FANF4:$ 15,000.
