Circa 1950’s, France

Low pile area rug,  field in a bold red color with black, pale blue, tan and yellow central design.
Signed in corner. Arbre tag on reverse, noted as one of an edition of 300.

   

Dimensions: 114 ” x  77 ”

Condition: In as found, original condition.
Shows signs of wear on the field of red in several places.
One area near the binding needs a  1 1/2" long repair, it is shown below.

Biography: Jean Picart le Doux (French, 1902-1982)
Known as one of the most prolific tapestry designers of the 20th Century,
Picart le Doux worked closely with Jean Lurcat.
Works are highly collectable and have graced the walls of oceanliners of the Art Moderne Era.
