length Mirror / Cheval
Custom made for a Parisian Department Store
Signed: Frederick Sage & Co. Limited, London & Paris
Circa 1890-1900, Paris, France

Rare and wonderful
full length dressing mirror / cheval.
Custom made for one of the Premier Parisian Department Stores in
the Belle Epogue / Art Nouveau era.
Constructed of
solid brass, with an arched top and open top rail,
framed in a
elegant and simple leaf and berry design, similar to a gingko
leaf.
The unisex design would be suitable for a dressing room, a
glamorous master bath or even an entryway.
Brass signature
plaque intact at base of mirror frame: Frederick Sage & Co.
Limted, London & Paris
The company remains
in business today. Known for high quality custom 'shop
outfitting' since 1860,
they worked around the world, creating
custom entryways and interiors for
notable museums and department stores such as
Harrods, Au Printemps, Galeries LaFayette and The Louvre- to name a few.
The company
celebrated their 100th year centennial, with a book detailing
it's history, thus far.
You can read about the history online here:

Per the Frederick Sage book :
' No Sage organization exists in Paris today, but there remain
many monuments to its activities,
the fine frontage of the Galeries Lafayette, the Printemps, The
Louvre, La Maison Barclay, Kirby Beard,
Mappin and Webb, to mention only a few, and countless others
both in Paris and in provincial cities.
The Paris Branch also undertook a wide range of contracts as far
distant as
Los Angeles, U.S.A., Algeria, Egypt, Roumania and Turkey.
Purchased in
France, we are currently
researching the actual name of the Department Store
this mirror
came from, and this information will be added shortly.
Please note: This
mirror was originally bolted to the floor of the shop.
You may
purchase this as shown, or we can have a custom marble base made
for it, for an additional fee.
You may also choose to remove the
floor attachment and hang this on a wall,
noting you would need
special anchors to support the weight.
Dimensions: 36" wide, 80" high at
center.
Condition: In very good original
condition.
Polishing & lacquering or re-plating the brass frame in polished
nickel is optional, for an additional fee.
A new mirror will be made for the frame upon request, for an
additional fee. (we do not have the original)
Please keep in mind if you purchase the frame only, and have the
mirror made when you receive this,
shipping will be much more economical and you will eliminate the
risk of breakage.
