French Art Deco Dining Table
Versatile, can also be used as a Desk or Library/ Center Table
Mermaid Mother of Pearl Inlay
In the manner of (possibly) Leleu
Circa 1940's, France
Rare and very unusual Rosewood
Dining table with Mahogany and Black lacquered accents.
Each corner of this rectangular
topped table features a figural Mermaid inlay made with exotic woods
and Mother of Pearl, linear detail connects the mermaids.
A raised
black lacquered trim also borders the tabletop on the apron/sides.
Each end pulls out with a small drawer for linens and acts as a
support for extension leaves
(leaves not included, but can be custom
made for an additional fee).
Unusual base design is constructed in a
double curved design with center stretcher.
Polished nickel
decorative disc and sphere on each base,
with banding on the center
stretcher between the ends of the base.
Dimensions: Tabletop: 71 1/2" wide,
38 1/2" deep, 3 7/8" thick.
Extension leaves can be added at each end, adding up to 36" in
length.
Base, 49" wide, 24" deep, 26" high.
Table is currently 28 3/4" high and
has a 24 7/8" high space between the floor and bottom of tabletop.
A
riser can be easily added to increase these dimensions.
Condition: In excellent restored
condition (July 2009) with a French Lacquered finish.
Clear finish
over the exotic Rosewood veneer. Fresh black lacquered trim.
All
original hardware has been re-plated in polished nickel.

Wonderful and unique pair of figural
male and female door handles to
grace a grand entry or bold furniture piece. 2 pairs are available.
Excellent conversation pieces.
Cast in
solid bronze with the original patina intact.
Both male and female figures have the scaled mermaid tails with
flippers.
Both are topless with their arms folded to support a shell type of thumb
rest
on the tops of their heads.
Both have very stylized, flowing hair with a definite art deco wave.
Highly detailed and very whimsical.
