Streamline
Art Deco Jazz Bench / Daybed
Circa 1930’s Donald Deskey Style
Made by Jazz furniture in the 1980’s

Unique and Fabulous large
Art Deco Streamline style bench.
One-of -a-kind, this actual bench was a custom ordered (larger) size
and was used in the movie set for Robert Redford's movie, "The Natural".
It is even more unusual
now, with the fabulous Designer Brown Acid dyed
cowhide used on the top, soft dark brown leather on the front side, back
side and welting.
Round and square tubular polished chrome base,
with rolled ends and a nice, wide bench area. Long enough to lay back &
relax on.
This would be a great
compliment to a pair of brown leather
men's smoking club chairs with the big elephant arms.
Jazz furniture was a
designer furniture company based in LA and sold from catalogs in design
centers only.
It was available only thru the trade therefore the production was high
quality and limited.
It was also used on many movie and television sets, such as Daytime Drama
The Young and the Restless.
These designs were inspired by period Art Deco designs, however the company
also created
custom work and their own designs by owner Marina McDonald.
I personally purchased many of these high quality designs for my own home,
directly from Marina,
and her husband, well respected lighting and modern fan designer Ron Rezek.
