In the manner of Pierre Chareau

Circa 1980’s, Custom made in
Europe
for the historic Art Deco landmark, The St. James Club Hotel
in Hollywood, CA
This desk was one of a
handful that were custom made in exotic macassar ebony
with leather inset desktop. Angular Modernist design with 7 drawers
and a sliding upper compartment.

Many of the furnishings compliment each
other.
Pierre Chareau designed the
original version of this well known “ MB212” desk in 1925.
It was exhibited at the 1925 Paris Exposition in the French Embassy Pavilion.
The original period versions sell at auction for six figures in recent years.
The desk we are offering varies in size and
does not have the side compartments that the original design offered.
The back is also unfinished but could be veneered for an additional fee.

Dimensions: 47 ½” wide, 25
½” deep with hardware.
35 7/8” high at back, 30 ½” high at desktop.
flat workspace on desktop: 27 ¾” wide, 17 ¾” deep.
Knee Space: 27 3/8” wide, 26 3/8” high.
Condition: In original as
found condition.
Desk B is in better condition than desk A, and is priced accordingly.
Desk A
Shows fading on the sliding compartments and some drawer fronts.
Requires touch ups and partial restoration..
We are offering this as is and can be restored by our expert for an additional
fee.
