Circa 1920's 
Rare Pair of Art Deco period Glazed
Pottery Foo Dogs (Lions) in Art Deco period pastel colors.
Male and female statues, Ideal to grace the entry of your home or
garden.
She has the traditional baby cub under her paw,
he has the decorated
globe or sphere under his paw.
The bases are bordered with a floral
trim, and both have decorations across the chest a
nd at shoulders.
Beautiful Aqua Blue base color with cornflower blue, pale mauve,
white and accented with a touch of black.
There are unpainted areas
where the natural beige color of the pottery base shows through as
an accent. They have a wonderful patina and crackle to the glaze,
appropriate for their age.
Foo Dogs have traditionally been
used to guard entryways and help ward off evil,
the Foo Dog is also known as the Celestial Dog, and the Happiness
Dog.
