Solid, hand carved wood American Art Deco Pair of Pilasters
from the Flagship Department store,
Bamberger’s in Newark, New Jersey.

Think Green! These pilasters were salvaged during a past renovation and re-purposing of this building.

A great way to re-purpose / recycle these historic pilasters and add charm to your home.

These pilasters are made of a solid hardwood and are very heavy!
They are hand-carved with a angular, linear and floral design that compliment French Art Deco designs.

Consider using these charming and elegant pilasters to flank a special doorway or entryway. Mount these with L brackets to your wall and cover the L brackets with the side moldings (supplied) for an invisible installation.

Dimensions: 109 ½” high, 17 ¼” wide, 4 ¼” projection.

Condition: In very good to excellent condition, recently repainted in Benjamin Moore semi gloss paint (off white shade).

No ordinary department store, Bamberger’s also has a historic significance for Radio enthusiasts. One of America’s first department stores, this location of Bamberger’s hosted the first RKO radio broadcast. RKO towers were located at the top of this building and some of the first radios were sold at Bamberger’s. WOR was hosted here for many years. In 1922, Bamberger’s was the sixth licensed radio station in the USA.

Bamberger’s was also known for carrying high quality merchandise and the owner, Louis Bamberger, was known to be very generous with his employees, treating them as family.
Macy’s later purchased Bambergers.
